While spending time with the (U.S.) Army, I found that a lot of soldiers referred to the g.i. version of this stuff as "hundred-mile-'n-hour tape." Anyone know the origin of this?

it was used to patch bullet holes in (fast) fighter planes in WWII

And NASCAR racers use it a LOT. One time one of 'em crashed, and they duct-taped the entire front-end sheetmetal--looked almost perfect
