inaccurate definition of proximal and distal

Post 1

Jack Straw

Proximal: toward the point of origin, or where an appendage branches from the torso. Ex. the proimal end of the leg is where the head of the femur meets the acetabulum of the pelvis.
Distal: away from the point of origin. For example the tibia(shin bone) is distal to the patella(kneecap).

2legs - Hey, babe, take a walk on the wild side...

The situeation is even more abstract/less clear in the kidney for example; distal convoluted tubule, proximal convuluted tubule; distal or poroximal to what? nI mean they are talkin over very, very small distances, and ist isn't always that straight foward
