So, what were the dwarves names before Disney got his claws into the story?

I don't think they had any names in the original Grimm brother's story see http://www.surlalunefairytales.com/sevendwarfs/index.html
where it says
"Dwarfs in symbology represent the underdeveloped and the unformed. They are pre-adolescent and not developed sexually. They live an immature and pre-individualistic form of existence that Snow White must transcend. (In the original story they are not individualised and Walt Disney by giving them names and personalities has destroyed their meaning in the story.)"

I think ours this year are going to be called something like "Budgie,Fudgie,Nudgie, Pudgie, Sludgie, Trudgie, and Donald"(the name of Hong Kong's current chief executive) but that will probably be changed utterly by the time we put it on in the last week in November.
