A Conversation for Adopting a Pet Cat or Kitten

We have a kitten we got from a local shelter andhave brought her into a home with two existing feline residents. It would be great to imagine she has found her place... but her incredible energy levels have left one bewildered and the other grumpy. They seem to get on OK - they haven't killed each other yet! - but I think a kitten will take what territorial rights it can grab rather than fall into the apparent natural order.
Our first cat adopted us - but, thinking about it now, we didn't go through any complicated process of working out whether she had a second home. She came for food initially and over several weeks became more and more friendly. In the end, she spent most of her time with us... so, I don't think she had another family and never had a collar. The suggestion in this article to collar a cat and see what happens seems like good advice...
