Some colleagues of mine have discovered a whole website dedicated to Chavs:- http://www.chavscum.co.uk/index.html

I posted this link on another site a couple of weeks ago and I was accused of being a snob and a social racist! No sense of humour some people.smiley - erm I work in a college with a large cohort of FE students and I have to admit that my colleagues and I do indulge in a bit of 'Chav spotting' from time to time.

I was a New Romantic when I was a teenager and I don't suppose today's youth look any more daft than we did.

Ahh... Good old ChavScum.... I was going to post that link here, but you beat me to it!
Personally I like to spell the word 'chav'.. c-h-a-f-f, simply because of the passage in the New Testament saying "and the Son of Man will come and burn the chaff....". Gives me comfort when they're shouting at me in the street smiley - winkeye

If it makes you feel any better, even in this day and age, I am a teenager who considers herself New Romantic. Or possibly, sad git.

Do you indulge in dodgy 80's new romantic fashions? I see that some 80's style clothes are making a come back but mercifully I haven't seen any of the frilly shirts or velvet knickerbockers once worn by me.smiley - biggrin

I like your biblical quote btwsmiley - ok If only they would blow away like the chaff on the wind, especially that Chav who won all that lotto money. I'd like to see him blow very far away but I suspect he will be blown back to jail before too much longer.

" some 80's style clothes are making a come back"

I didn't know they'd gone away! smiley - yikes

I have seen some 80s hair-dos on the tube recently. And more scarily, in adverts.

80's hairdos? Oh dear!

Getting back to the current crop of teenagers, did anyone else see this article and quiz on BBCi a few weeks ago? http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/magazine/3501584.stm

The quiz is supposed to be about understanding how 'the kidz' speak, but I had a lot of trouble with the corporate jargon as well! (are all my ducks in a row?) Somehow I managed to score 6 out of 10 - 'twas more luck than judgement.

I must say, the current growth of 80's style stuff is alarming... so many look like they got lost on their way to fame auditions.. quite tragic. On a bad day, I have been compared to Boy George [which I resent!!!], but I think that is mainly because they don't know who Adam Ant is. I loooorve those frilly shirts smiley - biggrin

As for the quiz... I got 5 and I *am* a teenager... smiley - yikes
