Barkhor, where Friends of Tibet meet

h2g2 Friends of Tibet

The Barkhor is the old market district of Tibet's capital, Lhasa. It is probably older than the city itself. Just like markets anywhere, the Barkhor has always been as much a meeting place, a place to exchange news and gossip, as it has been a place to trade goods.
