Having just had surgery, I came out of hospital with staples; they'd been used to join the sides of a head wound together, creating a beautiful straight line, evenly spaced as you mentioned. The only complaint I might make about staples is that the puncture marks left visible dots either side of the scar, that seem to be taking a long time to clear. Does this have something to do with the gauge of the staple compared to the diameter of stitching thread?
