Wow, another excellent Entry!
And something to ponder on. Is Science imitating the Art of Douglas Adams?
If whale oil does not freeze in space... this explains why the sperm whale, which against all probability manifested itself in the sky above Magrathea, was not a deep-frozen lump of blubber at such an altitude, and why it could still thrash its tail and reason intelligently from the limited data at flipper.
And as dolphins are close relatives of cetacaea, it would make sense that they have something akin to whale oil in their systems. Could this be part of the explanation why dolphins are natural spacefarers, able to leave a threatened planet by means of their own shortly before the Vogons visit?
What's next - the discovery that the flower commonly known as the petunia will be discovered to have a natural antifreeze agent in its cellular structure that makes it a candidate for survival in deep space?
