Yes, I really did like their music and I'm glad I was around to hear them.

Ah, you're posting in the wrong forum Alfredo. This is an entry about Genesis - Yes were an entirely different prog band and their entry is over here A959952

I prefer the Gabriel years but Duke is gorgeous and Then There Were Three is one of my favourite albums ever (The Lady Lies is my favourite on that)
many many years ago - probably the Invisible Touch tour - we went to see them in...oh maybe Hannover? Can't quite remember. But anyway, it was a typically good gig
but oh boy did and I feel old when Follow you follow me was (which I still think of as a new Genesis track) was announced as "here's a right oldie for you now"

I was lucky enough to see Genesis during the Selling England by the Pound tour, and then every tour until about 1978. I saw them at Earl's Court one summer, then a few months later I saw the Stranglers at the Camden Roundhouse and that was the end for me and live prog rock, as much as I still love it today.
But the friend who got me interested in Genesis was a fan much earlier than me - around the time of Trespass I believe. He saw them at another Roundhouse - Dagenham! Can you believe Genesis playing the Dagenham Roundhouse? Well, maybe so - I saw Queen there once too That was my regular Saturday night hangout for a year or two when it was a fixture on the prog circuit - Stackridge, Greenslade, Manfred Mann's Earth Band, Hatfield and the North, Wishbone Ash and the like.
Apparently Gabriel used to paint his forehead silver. This would have been a year or two before he cut that sort of bell-shaped piece out of the front of his barnet. Man, I so wanted to do that but I never had the bottle. Now I don't have the hair
