Got a phone call from a cousin - just to tell me he was on an island off the Norwegian coast and had got there by canoe, he was very happy.
Little later another call to tell me he had found a message in a bottle.
It was a message from a girl with her number - so he rang ---
She answered ---
In hollywood they would be married and live happily ever after ---
she was 16 and he was over 30 ---
a friend had put the bottle in a river for a bit of fun.

That's really cool .... even though it didn't work out like in the movies.
I've never found a message in a bottle even though I spend quite a bit of time at the shore.
Thanks for sharing.

Haven't found anything so exotic - usually the best thing we pick up is a beautiful shell.
Haven't been to the coast in a few weeks although now winter is here it's beginning to look more attractive.

Just been having amazing storms here, way over hurricane force.
Dangerous to go outside - the house just like a ship at sea.
The beaches should be very interesting.
Ill give em a go in the next few. The cod are inshore too. Mind you the freezer is pretty full.

Ah ... a visit to your PS tells me that you have miles and miles and miles of coastline on your doorstep.
I live in Northern Ireland - and a short drive will take me to the coast but I don't think I'd find anything as exciting as whale bone there. Mind you we do have a fishing fleet (of sorts) but I think they mostly bring in shrimp.

Yes, I'd love to see the vids, I'm always impressed by people who live abroad ... it's so much more exciting.

OMG I think I love you.
Never mind the scenery - the first video I watched was your work video - amazing.
Some of those things were art not carpentry and I've always had a thing about wood and indeed people that can work wood.
I think it might be because my father was a joiner (I know that's not quite the same thing but he could do things with wood too and died when I was very young) but I'm in awe of anyone who can be so skillful and make such beautiful things.
I hope I'm not frightening you - but you have to know what a gift you have.

You dont frighten me, but i have "scared" a lot here. In fact i got a bit tired of having to play games.
Im a bit of a wysiwyg kind of a person - too many want to carry social graces and games over to the net - bit sad.
But on the other hand i dont have to waste much time.

Well I was sitting here watching the spoon video when my daughter came downstairs she said - OMG that's amazing, they're really cool. So there you go - a 12 yo thinks your spoons are
I appeciate the wysiwyg - I'm like that myself and have had more than a few run-ins with the important (or should that be self-important) around these parts too. That's the reason I don't bother with the EG anymore. You're right about saving time too, now I have much more time to please myself instead of others.
You do seem to have quite a lovely lifestyle and you should be able to make a fortune with those craftsman's hands.

Hey, thanks.
Had a bit of a run in with your "dinasaurs," which put me right off too.
Id done a little piece and it wasnt quite finished.
Was involved with some other things so time went by, a little note appeared one day saying id been spotted on one of the bbc websites, so i was active and if i didnt complete the article within 2 weeks it would be pulled - so i pulled it.
Its sad so much of the web is governed by self righteous ignorant dinosaurs who are far more keen on their imagined social standing than they are on the welfare of their "domain."
To be honest i get quite a buzz out of tweaking them a bit - starting a conversation with "any one up for a bit of social intercourse." often gets some interesting reactions.
My stay usually ends with "any club that would have me is not worth joining."
Funnily enough ive been battling with an arts organization for years over a somewhat similar issue, with the concept that the purpose of the organization is being overridden by the overwhelming need of status, thus ensuring the organization will stay forever as it is.
Hey Fizzy, id love to know more about you.

Oh my goodness .... I've just realised I haven't been on here for 3 weeks
Life took one of those busy turns.
I'm in a bit of a hurry now .... but I'll be back later and I'll nip round to your PS then.
