A Conversation for Queuing

Ski-lift queues

Ski lift queues add another whole dimension to queuing, in that you can't stand as close as you would in a normal queue and loads of other nationalities, mention no names, use this to their advantage and push in.

Oh, go on: tell us. I don't ski anyway so I won't tell, or be in a position to tell.
Why can't skiers group more closely? Tangles with the gear?

Can't get so close because have ski's on. Don't want to damage the ski's. The same race who specialise in early morning towel placing....

At the risk of invoking the ire of skiers everywhere, I had a mental flash of a way around that: Everyone behind the person in front must stand with their skis pointed outwards in the front. That way the person behind can wedge themselves closer to the one in front because the lead-ski is pointed in at the back.
This also has the advantage of making the skiers easier to stack at closing time....smiley - smiley

Please don't hit me....

Ah yes but.. they send you through these cattle bars, like the queues at Alton Towers etc

That kind of thing? So you have to shuffle sort of forwards.
Stacking skiers, don't worry they manage to do it to themselves often enough!!
