A Conversation for Japanese Public Bath Houses: an Eye-Witness Account

That sounded like a pretty thorough bathing experience. I once went in an Onsen at the top of a mountain in Hokkaido, which was fab. You walked past a load of people going skiing (lots of snow about) and then got to the hot sulphur spring, stripped off and jumped in.
Baths in Morrocco - also excellent, but not quite in the same league. A great big pitch dark underground room with one tiny window by the ceiling, a wooden bench, one huge hot water pipe and a few buckets. But all the women were sitting about, just chilling and chatting - very relaxing.
