A Conversation for Yateley, Hampshire, UK

Post 1

Yateley was my home and my families for many many generations, i was married in St Peters Church and my sons christened there before the church was burnt,I attended the old village school when Mr Gibbs was head master and the village bobby was Mr Saunders, What has happened to my beautifull little village I moved to Cornwall in the late 70,s to escape the ruination of the Yateley thank goodnes i did, My fathers name is on the village war memorial William Harris he was originally the village Black Smith, Yes there were lots of farms one belonging to my great Aunt Hester, my grand parents owned what is now the housing estate of Little Vigo that was there land.I lived in Coronation Road in the cottge called Roseland Cottage I do believe david and Gillian Blanchard still live next door, My Husband was born in Laurel Cottage Cricket Hill just up from what use to be the then old Crickerters Pup and Blackbush was just common land untill the second world war when it was taken for a military air base. How sad it is to read the dreadful write up on Yateley that is on the internet. I will always remember my old village as it was from 1936 to 1957, regardes to any of the old villagers from those day
