Was 'Smallville' actress Allison Mack deeply involved in leading a messianic cult that sexually exploited women?

Not the sort of story that I enjoyed reading about – it's upsetting to hear that the people behind the television programmes you innocently enjoyed when young may have dark secrets. You feel all let down and hurt, such as with Rolf Harris. (Naturally I believe in the Presumption of Innocence and at present Allison Mack has not been found guilty, she is merely suspected and will be going on trial).

smiley - headhurts It is this sort of thing that makes telling real from fake news so hellishly difficult.

Perhaps one of the strangest 'seems like fake news' television actor stories was a few years ago when the star of 'Power Rangers Samurai' admitted to killing his roommate with a sword:

Moral: people should beware what souvenir props they let actors take home. I believe Sean Bean has a sword from his time at Waterloo...

Years ago, I was in a production of 'A Man for All Seasons' at another university (one I didn't work at). The cast were mostly professors - Thomas More was played by a physicist, Thomas Cromwell by a historian. I beheaded the future saint. (And I'd do it again, the old hypocrite.) We gave the director the chopping block, suitably inscribed, as a souvenir.

He was the head of their English Department. I hope he's never used it to off any administrators. smiley - winkeye
