A Conversation for Pottery - Ceramics as a craft and a hobby
People will always need plates
Woodsy Started conversation Aug 16, 1999
As an ex-potter, who was a domestic ware thrower, the one truism is that 'people will always need plates'. the problem is that the plates are often from Ikea for £2 each and not £40 works of art.
If you are going to use it as a hobby, please follow these important rules:
A. Never, Ever show you 'ashtrays' to the public.
B. Do not attempt to show them in a local public library. (This includes subsequent local paper '-artist shows wares' article)
C. Do not attempt to copy Bernard Leach
D. Do use as many dangerous glazes as possible.
E. Do try Raku firing whilst very drunk and or stoned.
Remember, a Beard is for life, not just for potters.
