*Affy, meanwhile, has circled behind the hut, and is listening to the Council Head. He doesn't even hear the person sneak up from behind, and push a gun into his back. Moments later, he is thrust into the middle of the hut by the guard, and is faced by some fairly angry looking Council Elders*

Um,....hi.

*Meanwhile, Minos is wondering where the Time Gate came from, and why on Earth he decided to step through it instead of just running back to the village. It seemed a very, very, very odd thing for him to have done, when you think about it. But anyway, he looked around the strange looking city for a while, before heading back to the Gate. Suddenly, his former captor came through the gate, and began to mutter to himself. Minos hides, and waits for the strange person to leave this area of the city, before he darts back through the Gate. He falls through the other side, looks around, and begins to make his way back toward the hidden village*

[YK pulls out a GPS (Galactic Positioning System) device from his pocket and turns it on. The reading is conflicting: the relative positions of distant galaxies say he should be on Earth, about a month in the past (March 2001), but local stars indicate he should be in an unknown galaxy with a huge gravimetric anomaly about three thousand light years away ... oh no. YK looks up, though his skin seems to not want to. He sees a GIGANTIC blue sphere, surrounded by what appears to be the core of the Milky Way.]

[YK] Oh, GREAT. We must've REALLY screwed up. [runs back into the time gate ...]

The same vortex as before

[... and runs into a bunch of Krymla]

[YK] (Uh-oh.) Hi. You might not want to go through there until history sorts itself out.

* Peet appears through the gate behind him, with a loud "plop". He has a long, grey beard and is wearing rags. He is carrying a wriggling bundle.

At last! I just got here from the pre-"Rupert" dinosaur hunt thread - I was sent back in time by the Space Station "Big C", but it was moderated away before I could return... Owww!

* He drops the bundle, which just bit him...

WHERE are you? And where from?? The Time Gate YK just came from leads to an alternate future in which the Galaxy's been demolished by a huge blue sphere that's as big as its core!

As I read it, the Time Gate was skipping from place to place, like the device of a similar nature which appeared in Star Trek and Star Trek: TNG... It just happened to pass through the alternate time/reality where I was left on a dinosaur hunt in a previous forum.

I'm currently standing near YK, nursing my hand and warily eyeing a wriggling bundle on the floor. I *said* I'd find an improbable and inopportune moment to appear... smiley - biggrin

Oh, and my character recognises YK, but has no idea he's in 33BC, fyi.

Fair enough, but we've just been taken prisoner by a bunch of Krymla.

[About twenty minutes later, YK and Peet are in the village.]

[First Krymla] [calling out to the hut] Here's two more! Minos led us to them.

*GL watches as his friends are brought before the elders. He is somewhat surprised to see Peet, especially in that ridiculous disguise with the obviously fake beard - no one can grow a beard THAT long unless they started in the Jurassic period. GL notices that the Professor hasn't been caught yet and hopes that between them, they can get the others out of this mess. At the moment, GL is powerless to do much, since the chest is in plain view, although it is among lots of other stuff.

GL shifts in the trunk to try to avoid whatever it is that is digging into his back. He feels among the blankets and clothing to discover what it is and finds that it is a golden aligator mask. He also finds an elaborately embroidered green robe that sparkles with sewn-on jewels. An idea begins to form in GL's mind...

A few minutes later, the trunk bursts open, and the Krylma's Aligator god, Akmuht, leaps out.*

*The Krylma stare at Akmuht in surprise for a few moments, in apparent surprise. Some of them fall for it and flee in terror, but others just look on in distaste*

Council Head-Now really then, I need to object to this! It's been years since we last had to stop ourselves from making fun of each other's religions, why do you have to start now?

*The Council Head rips off the alligator mask, and sees the familiar face of Garius Lupus*

Council Head-Oh. It's you again. You're captured.

*Affy looks around for a few moments, wondering if he should've mentioned more about the history of the Krylma before this mission began. Instead of continuing on this train of thought, however, Affy just decides to use a last, desperate ploy*

Affy-Well, it's not like people from the future ever keep their trap shut when they visit *us*.

*Affy begins talking as fast as possible, explaining the importance of their mission to the elders, explaining why Minos must be kidnapped, explaining about the future and that too much information would most likely ruin their existence, pretty much all of the important info is explained, with the exception of the fact that the "Future Overlord Of All That Is Evil" really is Minos roughly 2,000 years from now*

So you see, we need to borrow Minos, no harm will come to him. Later, we'll return him, and erase your memory of this event so that the time stream isn't altered too much. So, would you mind letting us go?

*The Council Elders sit in stunned silence*

Oh, come on. The Althians have been time travelling for years by this point, and....

*The Council Elders all gasp in surprise*

Council Head-You know of the Althians? We have only recently discovered this race with our satelites. We knew that they had extremely advanced ships that could travel even further through space than our own, but we didn't know that they could control the time stream. In fact, we and the Atlanteans are the only people that could possibly know about the Althians, and you people don't look at all like Atlanteans. If what you say is correct,....

*Several people nervously glance at Minos*

[YK] And things seem to be winding down. [aside to Affy] Affy, could you make it so the future won't be affected by the past as long as a subsequent time trip changes it to the way it was before? I have a nasty suspicion that Minos here may have a bigger impact than we know yet...

Don't worry, YK, I've got it all figured out. It's all up here,....

*Taps skull*

Now, if only the Council Elders would finish debating, we could skedaddle.

*As if on cue,....*

Council Head-We have decided that your story is acceptable, and Minos has offered his consent. In the event that you fail, we will be attempting to forget all you have said on our own. In the event that you succeed, we will all willingly submit to the memory wipe that you have mentioned. Go now, with the best fortune, and....

*An amused grin aimed at Garius*

....Kahmut's blessing, as you seem to have taken an interest in him.

*The crowd of adventurer's cheer and head outside, Minos in tow*

Affy-back to the time portal so that we can save the present, restore history, and get Peet to shave off that ridiculous beard.

I know I've been out of the loop for a few milennia, but forgive me for asking anyway; is it just me, or are these excursions just getting too easy?

Oh and watch out for that...

* There is a loud squeal as GL steps on a wriggling bundle. It squirms off into a corner making quiet cursing noises.

...never mind.
