I have read this with great interest. I have long been a fan of his; so was drawn to the entry as soon as I spotted it.
A small item which you may not know (or I may have missed) Sir Ian was also given an award from Lancaster University In July 2004. My Daughter Graduated from Lancaster on this date and at the ceremony Sir Ian was also present on the platform to receive his award. Unfortunately, I cannot remember what it was - probably something along the lines of Honorary Dr of Letters. I'm sure its in the public domain somewhere. He gave a wonderful speech and was most popular and natural with the families afterwards.
