Itook part in an R T E production in 2005 called Black Sheep, which traced the travels of John Perot to Rome and back, in the course of which it became clear that the John Perrott refered too as a poor sheep farmer, was a substancial property owner of Norman/welsh stock and a boyhood friend of Henry Tudor, second son Henry v11. also the priest in Rome was Father Creagh who went on to become bishop of Cork in Ireland. I strongly suspect that when John was in prison in England the last time, somebody told him whom his antecedents were and it went to his head as evidenced by his change in dress and attidude. there is also a story that he imported slaves to Barbados and Virginia.
