A Conversation for Temporal Mechanics in TV and the Movies
relative probabilities in spacetime
CaptainPiecesofEight Started conversation Jun 14, 2005
There are two versions of the many worlds theory. In the first, differences between timelines are only visible on a quantum not on a macro level. I've found websites for this, but won't bore you with them.
In the second ALL histories exist, and the time traveller doesn't create paradoxes, but changes relative probabilties. If I were to go back in time and kill my grandfather, I wouldn't eliminate my family from the universe, just alter the relative probabilities. There are 5 versions of h2g2 in this timeline, with 37 to come along this particular hypergeodesic.
I am Captain of Pieces of Eight until November.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
