'Rommel began the attack with an armoured drive through the British line. Initially this proved successful and Rommel's tanks advanced several miles into the British lines, but they were then counted by a prepared anti-tank position and by the British dominance of the air.'
I like the idea of being able to stop a tank attack by counting them .
I presume it should be 'countered'?
