The back of my drivers seat ( the part that you can adjust back and forth) is secure on one side but not the other as it has snapped but the bottom of the seat that is attached to the car is secure will it pass an MOT?

Probably to late to help but might be of use. The reason a car would fail the MOT test because a seat back will not lock in the upright position is to help prevent injury because a passenger or goods could move forward under sharp braking etc. If you have a doubt on anything about the MOT test go to the station and ask the tester whether it would. From your posting I would say it was a fail.
