I have just read the details on this site about Salford. I am disgusted with the content. If I had never been to Salford it would really put me off going. All places have their problems. When travelling around I see many more polaces that are dirtier and shabbier. Comments such as people should be worried about leaving their cars - not walking around alone at night - these could apply to anywhere but you make Salford sound terrible as if it is the only places with those problems. Our son and his fiancee and their friends regularly leave their very expensive cars - one of them a convertible - in Manchester at night and overnight with no problem. Salford has undergone vast regeneration in recent years. You say it is no good for shopping either but what about the Lowry outlet - there are very good places to eat in Worsley and Monton and on Salford Quays. You don't mention the awards that have been won by community groups in the Britain in Bloom contest. There are numerous societies and clubs with active dedicated members meeting socially and doing marvellous works in the community and for charity. Let us see some positive comments. Your article needs revising.

I agree wholeheartedly with you, living in salford for 11 years did no harm to me, yes it has bad spots but so does every town and city in the UK. They paint a picture of a city that is underfunded, which is party true due to Manchester stealing the limelight, but salford is not that. The city is thriving with things to do and places to go, more than ever before.

Secretly Not Here Any More

I lived there 19 years, then left, then came back 3 years later. This entry's spot on accurate about a town where there's nothing to do except spend as much time as is humanly possible in Manchester.

Swinton-lions

2 things. The listing is fairly bleak, but accurate. It's not (Overall) a very nice place to live. Worsley is an exception, rather than the rule. Unemployment is high due to 'Postcode discrimination', as soon as they see a Salford postcode on the job application some employers bin the application.

Secondly (Pedantic corner), in the description of the City's coat of arms, Swinton & Pendlebury are described as providing Minors Picks, while children did work down the pits at some stage, I'm sure this should be spelled MINER'S.
