The reason this place is good is that it is small, it is close to the pubs and it has as many vegetarian dishes as it has meat ones. The same goes for the Jewel in the Crown which is a lot bigger but has the same kind of selection. Vegetable Biryani doesn't even get a look in!

Terrific, wide selection of delicious food. If I have to recomment then it's their Shashlik dishes, their Butter Chicken, and many of their vegetable dishes. Just next to Hayes Station - so if you're ever at or near to Heathrow there's a direct link.

You should try Hilltop, it's only a five minute walk from the Shahi and the food is excellent.

I've never heard of it - in which direction is it, or on which road? We might have to try it when we are next spending a weekend in Gloucester!

If you wander back up to the cross turn left into Northgate street(I think!) keep walking, past Kings until you get as far as the North End Vaults. Take the road on the left it's about 100 yards down on the left-hand side (used to be Morans, if that helps).

It's on London Road then if it's Moran's. Thanks for the recommendation - I'll give it a try!

It's on Worcester street. I would recommend the hilltop special but it has chicken in it, but they have a lot of excellent vegitarian dishes as well.
