Me and my son are struggling here a bit. We have just settled your lucky 15 example the slow way. For £1 the singles come to £30.50, the doubles come to £346.50, the trebles £1,737 and the accumalator to £3,240. This adds up to £5,354. Times two equals £10,708. Why are you short changing us with £10,668?
Apart from this we are enjoying the maths. Why the difference?

Really enjoyed the article - excellent stuff thanks.
The problem in the Lucky 15 is (I think) a simple multiplication error. The first figure should read 5355 not 5335 then the formula works perfectly.
As the writer says, 'to err is human' but if that was a real Lucky 15 then the punter was sliced for £40. Maybe he didn't give the beleagured betting shop staff a tip, in which case he probably deserved it
Cheers.

LOL - I thought it was just me that couldn't figure out the Lucky15.
It seems a simple typo with the 5335 - which should read 5355 and return £10,708.
Enjoyed reading and working through the article. I agree excellent stuff. Thanks
