A Conversation for Lakes of Fraser Island
Lake McKenzie

During my tour of Australia earlier this year, I took the opportunity to visit Fraser Island. After driving from the ferry to Central Station, we bumped into some friends (this happens a lot when you're travelling).
"You HAVE to see Lake McKenzie!", they said. "It's amazing", they said.
Now, I've some travelling experience, and I've developed a general cynicism for these sort of statements. If you get too worked up about a tourist attraction, it's all to easy to be disappointed.
However, we set off for Lake McKenzie anyway, as it was fairly near.
We parked, and walked the winding slope down to the lake, which is surrounded by grey and twisted trees. The sun was high, the sky was clear and I was completely overwhelmed by the wonderful sight that met my eyes. Lake McKenzie is a spectrum of brilliant blues and purples, surrounded by pale sand and the fantastic twisted trees. I could have spent a week there. It was the most beautiful place I had ever been to, and it still is.
Go see it. Put it on your list of "Things to do in life". You'll thank me.
