Cheshire - North West or Midlands?

Post 1

There's a school of thought that Cheshire is in the Midlands, the NW being the area north of the Mersey and the N being the area north of the Mersey - Humber line.
Personally I've always subscribed to the Dee Estuary as being the NW divide - Chester being the southernmost town in the NW.
Of course now that Warrington is in Cheshire there's no problem either way!
You can always check on someone's claim to be from Cheshire by asking them to say Cholmondeley (it's Chumley of course).smiley - smiley

I like your point about Cholmondeley! The Welsh have a problem with that one too smiley - winkeye

Oh...your point about whether Cheshire is Midlands or North West...North West. The Midlands makes us too close to Birmingham smiley - laugh

Probably 2/3rds of England should be in Wales if the truth were told.

I agree. Lots of England historically belonged to Wales. As well as this they share similar culture.
