A Conversation for It's My Party - Constructing the Perfect Playlist

It is a good party!!

Great article.

This sounds very much like the play list for my village's parties. About four times a year vitually the whole village (150 people youngest 1.5yrs oldest 79yrs) get together to risk food and alcohol poisoning and dance to dodgy music that many people secretly like but don't want to admit to!! I firmly believe that the secret to the success of these parties is the combination of alcohol and cheesy music. Rock On!!!

Yup, we go to a similar music fest every summer Friday night near Houston, Texas, with the same age range. The cover bands are invariably classic rock and invariably good. Its great fun to watch the gradeschoolers dance to "Shout" by the Isley Bros. I wonder if the colleges realize that John Belushi's spirit lives on ... smiley - smiley

Hi Orion

Sorry i didn't respond earlier no broadband where I live!! Oh the joys of living in the British countryside.

it is a good idea communities getting together like that, it makes for a very friendly atmosphere. It is in part necessasity the nearest pub is 2 miles away if you get a cab it is £6 each way, walking is fine during the summer however it is mainly through fields and very quiet coutnry lanes, I don't worry about being mugged or attacked I am more likely to be hit by a car as people treat the lanes like a grand prix circuit!!

The only critiscm I have about the party list is it would have a bit Beatles, Elvis and Sinartra!! However music is only one part of a decent party.

Just a thought (well a few)
You have to play Shout! near the end when everyone is intoxicated enough to dance along, oh the terror!

Good point about the music only being one part of a party, some partys have a really good feel (for want of a better word) to them even if the music isnt that good.

One last general note on partys in general, you can always say you where drunk the morning after! That is if your not at milliways.

"You have to play Shout! near the end when everyone is intoxicated enough to dance along ..."

I don't think the 4 to 10 year olds, who were doing a pretty good "Shout!" dance, were intoxicated. But apparently kids that age are in a similar state all the time.

We attended the last of the summer concert series last night (it gets too hot in Houston later), the band was "Mango Punch", a very eclectic song list with everything from Elvis to Ricky Martin. I had to laugh when they announced the last song, "A good song to dance to, everybody get out there!" It was, of course, "Shout". smiley - biggrin

That really made me think why do you get so much more from the book!! I think that it is because it's is down to your imagination there is no other input that makes reading a very personal experience.

I've always been into reading even as a child, I am quite badly dsylexic and when I was younger the only english related activity I could handle was reading so I took great pride in being able to finish the set text before anyone else in the class, I couldn't write the essay afterwards but you can't have everything.
