If you have taken any extended tours, I think you will agree with me that the wind is not generally at your back. There's an (old, sorry for this) joke about two gents, one riding east and one riding west, that meet and stop to talk. The first says, "This headwind is killing me." The second says, "Headwind? I've got the headwind." They stare for a moment, then each switchs to the other side of the road and off they go for a bit of tailwind. So anyway, I have thought many times about how it would be to let the wind decide the direction of the ride each day. It would be an unpredictable tour, but restful.
