The entry on earlier computers misses out the true pioneering computers designed in England.
Number one was designed at Manchester University by Tom Kilburn. He died about two years ago. Tom was credited with producing the first ever programmable digital computer.(obit in Times)
Number 2 (EDSAC) was designed in the maths lab at Cambridge University. The key figure was Maurice Wilkes. To the best of my knowledge he is still alive and active.
The Lyons machine was a derivative of the Cambridge machine
Worked with and new the people at Cambridge and Manchester
I have used a name that relates to the type of memories on the main frame computers of the next generation (A matrix of magnetic cores)
