A Conversation for Barabrith (Welsh Tea Bread)

Might I suggest that you preheat the oven and grease the loaf pan AFTER you allow the mixture of fruit and brown sugar to sit overnight? You're likely, otherwise, to waste a lot of energy, or, at worst, burn the house down. smiley - yikes

Sea Change

Is there any leaven in this? I only ask as the recipe is subtitled as a bread. It is already not bread-like to me for the large quantity of sweet ingredients, so perhaps I am overliteral.

It seems to me that except for not being cooked in water, it is similar to a simple plum pudding and could be treated similarly-is this true?

Lady of the Lake {A friend to all, a lover of none}

Hiya Sea,

It doesn't have yeast in it if thats what you mean, it is classed as a Tea Bread in Wales, UK but it is a bit life a fruit loaf with a difference. Hope that clarifies it a bit for you.
