Gnomon - time to move on

as the first decade of this millennia --> as the first decade of this millennium

This means that at the poles, days last for 42 Earth years, half of the Uranian year. -- this is not really a very good explanation, because on any planet with any sort of a tilt, the day at the pole is always half a year. The significant thing about Uranus is that over almost all the surface, the day lasts half a year. It would be better as:

This means that over most of the planet's surface, the sun does not set once every Uranian revolution, but instead stays above the horizon for half a Uranian year, or 42 Earth years, which is then followed by a similar period of darkness.

The moons are listed here in order of year of discovery and their equatorial radius in km. -->
The moons are listed here in order of year of discovery.

(They are not listed in order of their equatorial radius in km)

I was wondering how long I was going to be able to keep my pet name for this decade in there. I guess no longer. I still think nobody has come up with a better term, however that is a discussion for other threads not here.

I note in your data section you do not capitalise gravity.
here is the line from Saturn
Acceleration due to Gravity (m/s2</SUP&gtsmiley - winkeye - 9.05
all the other planets likewise use a capital G on gravitation.

Shagbark, d2k may be your pet name for the noughties, but I doubt anyone else would understand it. It should never have been there, and your Uranus entry should never have been accepted by the Eds as it was.

as i stated in another thread
the first decade of this millenium is not officially called the noughties and if my term for it should go so also should that term.

It's the difference between a term that one person uses and a term that millions of people use. There's no such thing in English as "official", since we have no authority who proclaims what language we're allowed to use. If people understand a term, then it is acceptable.

Sorry, I shouldn't be talking about this here.

My reason for updating this was to correct everything that was wrong with the first update of Joanna's original EGE. From the old PR thread the updater Shagbark was under the impression the update would go through a sub-ed which isn't the case. Any update is used to replace the existing EGE which is why it has to be perfected in PR.

smiley - 2centsI don't believe gravity should be capitalised, but I'm willing to be corrected, and if the other planet entries are wrong they will be flagged up for fixing later. Right now the Curators are concentrating on fixing common spelling errors, and I am searching for mis-spelled names.

In that list, Gravity should be capitalised, since all the other headings in the list have all the important words capitalised. In normal use, gravity should not be capitalised.

Could you add this after 13 March, 1781.

This came as a bombshell in the astronomical world, as the other planets had been known since before the start of recorded history. It had never occurred to anyone that there might be another one. Herschel was an
instant celebrity.

Then change the following sentence to:

He called the new planet Georgium Sidus...

I'm not sure that I like the way the facts table has the units immediately after the title rather than after the number. It is more normal to put the units with the numbers.

Height of Gnomon (m): 1.80

or:

Height of Gnomon: 1.80m

What do people think?

Just reviewed PR from 2006. I was certainly wrong in thinking that it would be 2012 before this was updated.
