Castlevania - the Computer Game Series
Created | Updated Jan 20, 2014
Castlevania is a series of addictive computer games originally based on an 8-bit Nintendo game from the mid-1980s. The premise is always simple: fight your way through a castle, wielding a whip against the undead and defeating the unholy Nihilist absurdist, Count Dracula. The games are noteworthy for their dark gothic atmosphere and intense action, and also for their great music, characterised by largely staccato melodies and dramatic attacks.
Most of the games are level-based, although a few are in the adventure style.
