Carrying 13 cats in your car is certain to be bad luck

This past Saturday, I helped some friends move from Brighton to Roslindale (in Massachusetts, not the U.K.). Mostly they needed the use of my car for carrying their 13 cats to the new bungalow they had bought.
No, the 13 cats weren't *all* in the car at the same time. I made two trips, and the cats were in carrying cases. The first trip went smoothly enough, though driving was hell because the carrying case on the front passenger seat was so big that I could barely reach the gearshift. And there was a litter box on *top* of the carrying case. At one point, I went around a tight corner, and the litter box slid out the window, landing in the street (I was afraid the police would give me a ticket for littering doh , but none were around to see iterm . Arrived safely at the new place, and the cats were carried inside by my friend.
Back we went for the rest of the cats. This time, things didn't go so smoothly. One of the carrying cases split open when my friend was getting it up the front stepsa of the bungalow. I came over to help, but the cats still got away and ran off in two different directions.

My friend's wife cried most of the time for the rest of the day, as she was fond of the two cats that escaped, and was sure they would never be seen again.
