Hello and welcome to the wonderful community of h2g2 , also called 'hootoo '
I am your <./>ACE</.> and have come to meet you and to greet you and to help you with your first steps on this site.
First things first :
, there's always somebody near to help you with whatever your problem might be. For example you can reply to this message and/or ask me a question by simply pressing the reply button. Or you can click on the name above this message, which will bring you directly to my Personal Space ( recommended ), where you can leave a message for me.
Here is the Welcome Message from DNA, the founder of the site: A157349
Things you should know before you start :
This is an open forum, so everything you post can be read by everybody else, and you cannot delete it, nor can you correct it once it is sent. This is where the 'preview' button below your answering box comes in handy
The only thing you can edit or delete, is any guide entry you create,( go here for more info : A53209 ) which includes the introduction on your Personal Space.
So why not read the Guide to Netiquette on h2g2 at A901838 before you put your foot in? You're much less likely to accidentally upset somebody if you're familiar with the site's Netiquette. To give you an impression of how you may feel if you posted before thinking, take a look here: A11284193
If you reply to this message and tell me a bit about your interests, I can most certainly point you directly to the best places to go.
For more tips and insight you can read these pages:

Hints and Links: A719840
and don't miss to read <./>ThePost</.>, hootoo's very own newspaper!
Take your time, have a look around the site, and enjoy yourself
P.S. I'm certainly prone to having forgotten something vital to you, so please don't be shy, hit the reply button below this message

PS there are quite a few German/German based researchers here (I'm one of them), so if you're interested have a look at The h2g2 Language Thing A1145477

Hello Bel,
Could you take a look over My Space, please, because I don`t know whether the link is allowed to announce to. I mean because of the House Rules. And the second question is, that I don`t know what you mean by German/German based researcher. Is a German teacher requested?
Kind regards,
Thomas

Nothing wrong with your link as it's the officail website of Berlin. Links to commercial websites aren't allowed, i.e. if you wanted to sell something and had a website you advertised.
German/German-based researchers means there are Germans like you and me and Yelbakk and matodemi and Malabarista, and there are ex pats like Trillian's Child, or Sho, or Toy Box who's French/German and working in Germany ast the moment. There are more but I don't know them all.

Hello Bel,
I`ve been looking for a way to delete parts of my backlog but I can`t find it anywhere.
The reason is that I want to keep My Space clearly arranged and the conversation list gets longer and longer.
By the way, could you imagine how many barrels of laughs I`ve had with hootoo in the past days?
Kind regards,
Thomas

Could you give me a hint, please? I try to use the smileys in the shortest possible way.
This means to click onto the smiley I want directly, but without going into the SEARCH h2g2 field and enter with the word "smileys".
I imagine to use the range of smileys from my space or whatever I got on disposal, to do it directly when writing a post.
Oh Bel, it makes me so down, only to know the pedestrian way.

Do you have the box with the smileys beneath your reply window? You just click on one of the smileys displayed there when posting.
Above are the smileys from this box. All the other smileys, you have to do manually, i.e. you have to write them yourself. If you want to look for the whole list of smileys, just click on the link between the reply wondow and the smiley box which reads 'Full Smiley Index'. This will open the Smiley page in a new window for you.
Btw, I missed your question before. To reduce the amount of conversations on your PS, either click on 'unsubscribe from this conversation' at the bottom of said conversation, or click the little x shown next to the conversation when looking at the list on your PS (if you're in the brunel skin, that is).

Hello Bel, Could you please explain to me what 'tomorrow the excrement hits the punka' means?
I don`t know this expression but I want to get to know.

It means 'tomorrow, the sh*t will hit the fan' - hope you can imagine what that means. It's an expression predicting that something nasty is going to happen.

You are right, sounds ...
I am sure, the sun will bring it to light.
By the way, I`m afraid my 'Citadel Spandau' entry slowly gets absolete in Peer Review.
I mean, I didn`t expect to wait years for my small essay until it becomes accepted by the community.

Yes, I know that feeling too well.
Don't worry, though, I'm sure it should get picked at some point. My friend F>izzy is just wondering about the same thing in her journal - and she's a scout and knows how things work. Have you posted there to say that it is finished from what you can tell?

Thank you for the hint, Bel I shouldn`t worry about the current state.
Actually, I wanted to write something to tell my work is finished but when I discovered how peacefully the 'citadel' stands in PR, I changed my mind.
Key: Complain about this post
