smiley - huh I don't suppose you mean the song 'Castle on a cloud', from Les Miserables? 'Coz I actually know that one... can't think what else you might mean. Perhaps I just don't know the song. smiley - cdouble

So... which bits of the castle are we going to renovate first? smiley - ok

hmm...

i definately needa little sewing room. i think it should be a tower room, wiht a long spiral staircase leading up to it. smiley - laugh wiht all these staicases i'm trying to put in i'll never get fat!
anyway... it should be fairly small, but have a fantastic view. with only one window, right over the sewing desk. there should be a table to the left of the desk for cutting, and it needs drawers for me to keep my sewing supplies in. and to the right there should be an ironing board. the window should have drapes, long flowing ones, made of some sort of translucent material. the door that leads in should be right behind the desk, and the kight swich on the righ tof the door.

uh oh.. this is starting to remind me of a book that i read. stupid thing made me cry! ok... just to stop that i'll have to make this a bright and cheerful room, but still no pink. and it has to be warm and well lit. the stair case has t be very clean, and dry, and also very well lit...

smiley - run I'll have to see if I have it... or can get it.
The song 'castle on a cloud' is one of my favourites, although it's a nuisance that every truly beautiful song seems to be a really sad song, too...

Is the book it reminds you of 'Sleeping Beauty,' perchance? smiley - laugh

I hope there's another ironing board somewhere... I'm buggered if I'm going to be walking up a long spiral staircase going up a tower every time I want to iron something! smiley - rofl

Apart from that, I like it! I'm imagining the window doesn't have glass, so the curtains billow nicely, and the tower is like your average castle tower made out of rock... but that's not very practical I guess. You can't plug in the sewing machine if there are no power sockets in the rock, and you can't have the rain coming in through the window which can't close, either... perhaps the tower is /mostly/ rock, and the window has shutters on it... smiley - erm

so i've just sent you an email asking if you want the lyrics... but maybe you found the song?

the book was called a collage of magics. it was about this girl who had had some guy sent to protect her. and he fell in love wiht her, then later she fell in love wiht him. it was so nice and i was looking foreward to the happy ending. but then he got killed taking a shot that was ment for her. and she was very sad. but later when he was brought back to life he was given the body of the person who had tried to kill her, and that guy was old fat and ugly and she didnt love him anymore!!!smiley - wah that made me mad. and i cried about it all for i dont know how long!

lets say is big glass window wiht large square panes. and it opens and theres no screne. that way it can be open when the weathers nicesmiley - smiley

...And I've just sent a reply! smiley - ok

That book sounds really... interesting. I think the end would make me mad smiley - grr, but the rest of it sounds really nice.

"...that way it can be open when the weather's nice." I was thinking that the shutters would only be closed when the weather's bad, but either way I think we agree that having the window open whenever possible is good. smiley - ok

What else needs to go in the castle?
smiley - rose

well...i just sent a reply to your replysmiley - biggrin

i'd prefer a window to shutters. that way i can see the rain. that would be lovelysmiley - smiley
and i'd want to paint the walls... so not stone, but the staicase should be all stone... i'd want the walls to be some sort of pastel color. i'm seeing a light pastel orange. but not a creme orange. its got to be much more vibrant than that. dont ank me why ornage. usually i hate pastels... but i think it totally takes me away from the story.

it was a very very good story, and thats what made me so upset. i got so into the characters. it was a long book, and i read it in 2 days... it was one of those you cant put down... but i was so sad for him!smiley - wah

anyways i'm not sure what room t do next. hmm... perhaps we want to design the tv room we agreed on having...

...and I just replied to yours! smiley - laugh

"...that way i can see the rain." Deal! Windows it is! smiley - ok

Well the TV room (or, to be accurate, home theatre room; I wouldn't bother having a TV)... smiley - shrug A fairly standard (but decent) home theatre system would work for me... Video projector, DVD player, good 3D stereo, underfloor subwoofers, lack of windows but good ventilation... the only things are that wherever the door is people should be able to get in and out without getting in the way of whoever else is watching, and they should be able to open the door without the glare from outside being distracting either.

smiley - erm Hadn't really thought about it much more, to be honest...

hmm... can we make it kinda like a movie theater except wiht black leather couches or something. so maybe some red velvet curtains on eihter side of the screen. and those lights that dim, and are sunk into the ceiling...

and we should totally have a popcorn machine! not that i really like popcorn all that much... but no good big screne type movie is ever complete without the smell of it. and if this room isnt near the kitchen, which somehow is the way i picture it, there should be alittle fridge wiht good drinks in it...

waht do you think?

and ha ha! i jsut replyed to yours.... but then again, just moments ago i got your newest email, seconds even...

Oops, almost lost this post. I looked at it before I went to lunch and decided I'd reply after lunch, and almost forgot. smiley - headhurts

Yeah I forgot to mention the black leather couches. Really squishy soft comfortable ones! smiley - ok
Which don't creak. smiley - erm

And I agree with the /smell/ of popcorn, but I think the /sound/ of popcorn popping while I'm trying to watch a movie would drive me nuts... so I guess the popcorn machine would have to be in the next room... whatever that is...
And a little fridge would be good... like a barfridge or something. smiley - ok

Okay I think we're done with the theatre room, what's next? ... What do you think about the bathroom?

Castles In The Air

Post 12

Arisztid Lugosi

ahh.. the bathroom!
i've been waiting to talk about this one!!!

there should be a very big deep tup, jacussi style... like almost enough room ro fit two people. and it should be long enough so i can lay down in it... and the back should be sloped so i dont het all cramped up when i lay and read in the bath.

i'm imagining it very warm and kinda dark. lit by candles or something... wiht a big mirror over the counter. and the sinks should be the kind that have the edges of the counter go over it... you know what i mean? and it all should have sinlver fixtures. and the floor should be a dark slate kind of thing. but wiht heated tiles. and there should be some mahogony cubbords for holding towels and bathsoaps and stuff... i really dont wnat to put a toilet and shhower in here...but i suppos we should. so maybe we can put them in an un obtrusive nook.. and the shower should be like one of those ones wiht glass walls. and it should be really big, the kind wiht a bench built in. and it should be the kind that can kinda turn into a steam room.....

by the way.. i answered your email...

"I answered your email..." I know, but I've run out of stuff to say. smiley - sadface

I like the bath... you almost described it the same as when I described it on that other thread... smiley - cool

"...almost enough room to fit two people..." smiley - huh Almost? Are you sure only /almost/ big enough?
"...the back should be sloped" Absolutely! smiley - ok
"...you know what I mean?" Yes, yes I do...

Mahogany cupboards are kewl! smiley - cool
I don't really want to put the toilet or shower in there either, well maybe the shower, but the toilet should definitely have a seperate room.

"...one of those ones with glass walls, and it should be really big, the kind with a bench built in, and it should be the kind that can kinda turn into a steam room..." Very similar to what I had in mind... only I was thinking of one which looks like a chinese-style pagoda from the outside...

oh well... thats ok then.
i had an aweful dream. it was almost a little like that stupid book, only the guy didnt get brought back t olife in the endsmiley - erm. and he died at the beginning of my dream, which kinda sucks.

ok...the bathtub can be bigenough for twopeoplesmiley - smiley... i wasnt thinking, i was just thinking about when i read in the tub. so it should be big enough to comfortably fit two people...

perhaps we could have a serperate room for the toilet and the shower... smiley - erm i'm not sure what a pagoda is...smiley - huh

"I think it should be a really big shower..." Yes, I agree, but it doesn't need to be as big as the house in that picture! smiley - laugh
I was thinking of something pretty big for a shower, like maybe 5 or 6 feet square?

What else is there? Are we done with the bathroom for now? Should we move on to the next room? smiley - ok
