Hello, I'm here. Don't worry. Everything will be alright. I'm glad you like my page enough to leave two messages (that's two more than anyone else). I've increaed the size of my Black Sabbath article, but it's still not really complete yet. More of a potted history of Sabbath, really. You can look at it if you want.

Don't worry, I'm quite bored at the moment as well. It's 3:21 in the morning and I can't be arsed to go to sleep. I'm listening to Black Sabbath Vol. 4 at the moment as well (through headphones, of course...). I've just had a peep at your homepage, and am pleased to find that you enjoy the delights that are Monty Python and the Discworld books. Have you tried Robert Rankins books? They're similar in their humour style to Terry Pratchett, but are substantially more surreal. Basically, think of a cross-breed between Terry Pratchett and Salvador Dali, and you're nearly there. A dash of DNA and you're nearly there. Obviously, he's not just a mixture of other people, he has his own style. Trouble is, I keep spending my money on his books. Oh well, eventually I'll run out of books to buy.

sounds interesting but it's taken me an average of about two months to read each Discworld book (I'm not a slow reader I just don't spend much time reading) so there is a small pile of unread Discworld books (birthday + christmas presents) still unread but when they're done i'll check them out. Thanks smiley - smiley

What sort of music are you generally in to?

I know how you feel with piles of books, although my book piles tend to be chemistry books. If you ever get through theTerry Pratchett books, then I suggest that with Rankin you start with the Brentford books, which begin with the Antipope, the rest of the Brentford books (currently five) are more or less obvious in which order they are to be read, via the bits at the back of the book. Then I suggest the Armageddon Trilogy. It helps to read them in the order in which they were written, since then the in-jokes become more obvious. I personally don't know what oprder this is but I do know that theBrentford books are the least odd, and therefore make the beststarting point. They're the earliest too, generally, apart from the Brentford Chainstore Massacre, the last of the five.

Off the top of my head, the order of the Brentford Books is:

The Antipope,
The Brentford Trangle.
East of Ealing,
The Sprouts of Wrath,
The Brentford Chainstore Massacre

It's p[robably wrong, but never mind By the way, if this this entry has numerous spacesmissing, it's my keyboarads fault, and if there are letters missing, it's the faoult of the beer.

Music..hmm.. Savage Garden, Madonna, No Doubt, QUEEN!! Mwuahahhaaha!! Excuse me smiley - smiley What about you? smiley - smiley

Okay, lots of books, yes! Books are good. Hmm. Deja vu.

I'll look out for them when I go shopping next, and knowing me and my extreme laziness that could be a long while. Mental note: MUST go shopping Saturday.

Thankyou very much. (No that was not supposed to sound like Elvis. Elvis lives! j/k.)

My musical tastes are quite varied. I tend towards the heavy metal/rock end of the spectrum. My favourite band, as you've probably guessed, is Black Sabbath, but I like others too, such as Pink Floyd, Queen and ABBA.

Will you kill me if I say that this is the first I've heard of Black Sabbath? Please don't. *whimper* smiley - winkeye

ABBA is good. Yes,...But they don't go down in my list of faves.

Don't worry, I won't kill you, I promise.

Black Sabbath are generally considered, within the rock and metal community, to be the originators of heavy metal. They're often given a Satanist tag, hardly surprising given their name, and that the inside of the gatefold sleeve of their debut album had an upside-down cross on it.

But they weren't really all that Satanic.

They're kind of like what Hendrix might sound like after a very depressing week. Then again, perhaps not. It's quite hard to describe their sound, since there was no-one before them who did anything similar, and not many people after them sound much like them either, despite their massive influence on the world of rock and metal.

A bit like grunge in the seventies, I suppose. But with more guitar solos.

Sorry I haven't said anything for ages, but I've come home for the Easter holidays from Uni, and the internet connection here is much slower, and I have to pay. Plus for the past week I've been in Blackpool with my parents and sister, in a lovely caravan. The big "static" type caravan, that is. It rained most of the time, but it was sunny on the last two days.

Oh dear, I'm rambling. Best go.
