Hi <BB<

I'm your Sub-editor for Disney Princes. The new version is A87848635 - please subscribe smiley - biggrin

It's a while since I last read this, and I still think it's a superb addition to the Guide - fascinating and funny smiley - ok

From the Peer Review thread, you don't appear to have addressed Gnomon's comment:

"Perhaps the reason why Disney's princes so enjoy kissing women others consider to be corpses, such as Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Meg and Giselle, is because they know that breeding is something to do with lying down?"

-- this seems not to fit in to the rest of the section. It doesn't follow on from anything, and doesn't seem to make much sense anyway. Breeding is connected with lying down. I suggest you think of some other way of presenting the fact that the princes like to kiss sleeping or apparently dead princesses.

In the Prince and the Pauper, who is Pete?

Should there be a row for "Attracted to" in the Prince Hans table?

I thought it was a good idea – glad you still like it. I also love Freewayriding's illustrations too.smiley - smiley

Anyway, Pete, aka Pegleg Pete, is the oldest Disney character, predating even Mickey Mouse (1928) as he appeared as a villain in Disney's Oswald and Alice cartoons in the early 1920s. A large character who is a bit like a cross between a cat and a bear, he was often seen smoking a cigar (not so much these days), sometimes (but not always) has a pegleg and is often a villain and/or is self-centred. He's Goofy's neighbour in the 1990s series Goof Troop, with a wife named Peg and has a son called Pete Jnr. If you saw the short-film 'Get A Horse' that accompanied 'Frozen' in cinemas and is on most 'Frozen' DVDs, Pete is the villain who chases after Minnie. He's also the Ghost of Christmas Future in 'A Christmas Carol'.

I don't think there should be an 'Attracted To' row for Prince Hans, as Hans isn't actually attracted to anyone, he just pretends to be. Prince Edward, on the other hand, believes himself to be in love with Giselle before he later marries Nancy. Similarly, Prince Eric is deceived by magic into being attracted by Ursula. Hans, though, is just using Anna.

I've tweaked the breeding bit with a bit more of an introduction to hopefully fit it in with the preceding paragraph a bit better, so hopefully it makes sense now:

"Of course, even after a suitable partner is found who meets the prince's approval, there is no guarantee that the prince will be capable of continuing the royal line. Perhaps the reason why Disney's princes are so often seen kissing women others consider to be corpses, such as Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Meg and Giselle, is because they know that breeding somehow involves their partner lying down?"

Any questions about any of the above, give me a shout!

Yes, I like the illustrations, too smiley - laugh

I'm a Disney Doll snob, though - I much prefer the original Disney Classics, such as these https://www.pinterest.com/pin/572097958885177491/ Beast especially is much better, with proper fur rather than plastic fur like the newfangled Beast seems to have. Whatever shape they are, though, Disney dolls mean hours of fun, recreating or reinventing the fairytales smiley - ok The Little Mermaid naturally merged with the film Splash smiley - laugh

I made those changes, and understand the Prince Hans table. smiley - ok I'm happy with this now, so if you are too, it can be sent on its way smiley - magic

I never had any Disney dolls growing up – just Star Wars figures I bought from 'The Treasure Chest', the second-hand shop down the road. That had all sorts of stuff in piled all over the place, no real sense of order at all. You don't get shops like that any more.

Good to see with those dolls that you can cover up Prince Adam's head to transform him back into a handsome Beast. smiley - biggrin

I've read through and am happy too, so feel free to push the button!

Yeah, those kinds of shops were good for a rummage smiley - biggrin We had one down the road when I was growing up, but it is a café now. I suppose Charity Shops are the closest thing to that these days, or even something like ebay.

Yes, the Beast doll wasn't as handsome as the real Beast, and the Prince Adam doll was slightly more handsome than the real Prince, but the transformation was always good smiley - ok

You don't quite the same fun of finding something unexpected if you look online and find exactly what you were looking for...

Charity shops are more exciting, though. But there should be more that sell slightly dog-eared books too, not just the latest publications.smiley - smiley
