Galaxy Babe - eclectic editor

Hello Baryonic Being and congratulations on your soon-to-be edited entry!smiley - bubbly Thanks very much for writing this!

The new article number is A13199709 - I'm sure you'd like to go subscribe to it, so you can deal with any questions when this goes live.smiley - biggrin

I've been through the entry, changed double-quotes to single quotes where necessary, punctuated a footnote, expanded an outside link, corrected one typo (well done! much appreciated), read through Peer Review comments, checked all your figures and am now adding h2g2 links. (In your mention of "Fred" I have linked to The Flintstones EGE but if you don't want it in I'll remove it. I resisted the urge to link to "Dinosaurs" on your mention of "Dino"smiley - tongueout)

House-style says numbers less than ten have to be written, but in your entry it'd look too messy to change half...smiley - ermso I've left the calculation ones.smiley - smiley

If you'd like to give the entry a browse I'd be most grateful. I won't return it to the Editors until you say it's good to go.smiley - ok
smiley - cheers

Wow - you've been busy. Thanks a lot.

The Flinstones link is fine, as is everything else, as far as I can see. smiley - ok I don't care to read over it again though - I've just skimmed it - but I trust you to have done a good job. smiley - smiley

Thanks again - you know a bit about calculus I presume?

BB: Just a quick, possibly meaningless, question.

[The Greek letter Δ means 'difference', so the notation literally means 'the difference in y over the difference in x'.]

I'm no expert on Greek, but my impression was that the mathematical concept 'delta' meant 'change', not 'difference'. This could be important, if true.

The difference between 10 and 8, or 8 and 10, is always 2; but the change from 10 to 8 = -2, and a change from 8 to 10 = +2.

My math is no longer what it once was, so I'll trust your definition if you are sure you've checked it out. smiley - ok

Yes, good point. Different sources seem to report the meaning of the delta symbol differently, but I reckon 'change' would indeed be a better way of defining it. If the Sub-Ed sees this, it would be a good idea to change it.
