Not exactly a thriving online community is it?

Hi Egon,
No, 606 "sucks the big one" as they say. I still drop in occasionally to see how the Saints board is doing but I haven't got time for much football stuff at the moment as I am involved in some antiwar things (while pretending to do my job ) The secret is to have a PC with a screen facing the window and a pointy-headed boss who thinks "If he's typing, he must be working")!
(I want my smiley dammit!)

smiley would be useful
I use the 606 pages from time to time (posting mainly to the Everton board under my real name of "Richard Porter") but a combination of overzealous moderation and the pointless bitching that tends to take place is very tedious. If you post an opinion, you get shouted down, criticised, personally insulted. There are some football bits on h2g2, including the "Virtual Supporter's CluB" and a fabntasy football game based around score prediction rather than the traditional fantasy football system.
Glad to hear you're anti-war as well- I'm right with you, although I'm a memebr of the Lib Dems, I'm not in any specific anti-war groups, although i tend to sign all their petitions, and once they got round to marching here in sunderland (about three wekks later than everyone else) I attended that.
Hopefully, I'l see you around in some conversations on here.

Cheers Egon,
606 has become a real pain is the ass and a virtual write-off (although I did finally receive an email yesterday from the Five Live Interactive Editor attempting to answer some of my questions/complaints (pigs are persistent beasts ). Ongoing dialogue therefore. If nothing comes of it I will dump the board and complain the next level up. (ps. the Saints board is not too bad for bitching and moaning, we have fairly good anti-troll protection although I have to keep posting reminding people NOT TO REPLY to the little b*ggrs!) I notice that there doesn't seeem to be much trolling on h2g2 which is nice.
This bullspit war is taking up most of my time at the mo. More later.
ps. not a cricket fan but good for the Kenyans and Henry Olonga is a TOP MAN.

with the exception of not being a cricket fan, I agree with your entire p.s.

Does Henry O play for an English county? I want to write him something nice.

Henry Olonga *doesn't* play for an English county, and is currently in hiding in South Africa, but he may be granted political asylum and a work permit in this country, so may get a county then.

Let me know if you find an address where I can send Henry a message of support. I grew up in South Africa in the 1970s when every sporting mercenary in the world was descending on the place, whining about 'keeping politics out of sport', conveniently forgetting that the SA govt of the time had IMPOSED politics on sport through apartheid. I heard Henry's interview on Radio 5 the other day and was v. impressed by his integrity and courage.

There was a good interview with him in the Mail on Sunday yesterday.
Like I said, he *should* be granted political asylum in England soon, and I'm sure there would be somewhere he was contactable then. there are rumours he could join the celebrity pub team "lashings" in Kent. I'll keep you posted.

Henry Olonga has been granted a work permit to play for Lashings, an all-star cricket team based in Kent.
The Lashings website is http://www.lashings.com/
Just thought I'd let you know.

And a minimal amount of research (i really should be reading about Popper, but Henry Olonga's far more interesting) suggests you could probably write to him care of:
Lashings House,
81-83 Upper Stone Street,
Maidstone,
Kent

You can actually write to them via the website which I have just done. As you say, far more interesting than work or study
