Hi, lil told me it's what you're doing right now (amongst other things like decorating the new home).
I thought we could sort of gather here and help you decorate (which means lil and Prof and Brian should e here soon, too). I miss Fizzy, but I think she's AWOL again.

DAN DAN DAAAAHHHH!!!!
Sheesh, it's been too long since I did that!
Well, I won't say I've not been keeping busy. Add to my own jobs Gina's nephew having a disaster in his bathroom. Their bath had been leaking for 3 years, but as it's in a bungalow, they didn't know - until the damp reached the neighbouring bedroom. I helped him rip out the bath, as the floorboards are completely rotten. Gina kindly volunteered me to help...
Yes, NVQ - six months into an 18 month course. I handed in a section on Friday, so I've got a spare half hour now, thought I'd see what this thread was (lil warned me it was here). I've not forgotten you all, don't worry. I was gutted I missed the Manchester meet, but it was right next to our wedding anniversary, and Gina wouldn't have been too impressed being dragged to a Meet. You're all wonderful, but a Hootoo meet isn't, well, romantic, if you know what I mean!
Our new house - well, moving is the best thing we've done! The kids love the area, I have my own garage, and Gina feels safe in her own home! It's a long time since she did, and to be honest, she was heading into depression. Now she actually enjoys being at home! We live right next to a National Cycle Route (a series of off-road cycle tracks) which means the girls can go out on their bikes without worrying about cars.
As for the house itself, Heather's room is finished (painted yellow, of course); Lily's is decorated, we're just waiting on the new furniture to be delivered. Our room looks like a store room for a charity shop, everything gets piled in there while the other rooms are being sorted! The central heating was fitted before the cold spell in winter, and that seems to be functioning well. We're now needing to sort a builder out to sort out the loft conversion - that will be a "walk-in wardrobe" for Gina, and space for my "crap" as Gina puts it - PC, and other stuff...
PC - hah! I got a new laptop at Christmas, which is brilliant. My old one was running a bit slow - half it's hard drive was taken up with Windows and it's updates, and the rest was annoying games from Prof! My PC is.. best not mention that. It was second hand, and has been nothing but trouble. It's got two 500gb drives, both of which keep failing. They're still in manufacturer's warranty, so have been sent back several times. It's currently running with a spare 80gb drive, which is temperamental. I need to find a good weekend spare to have a proper sort out - I think it needs a better power supply - which I can pull out of an old PC I have, which has a fairly new one...
As for the family - Gina's fine, loving the fact we've moved. The old area we lived in has got increasingly bad - we know of two people near our old house who are selling for the same reason. We now live in a bit called "Garden Village", which was built for the factory workers of Reckitts factory (where they make, aamongst other things, Dettol) in the early 1900's. It's very pleasant, tree lined, and much more friendly, and Gina says it's like having a huge ball of stress lifted off her. She's got her old smiles and giggles back!
Lily's currently doing some of her GCSEs - she leaves school this year, and is off to a sixth form college in September. Heather finishes primary school this summer, and moves to secondary school, just as Lily leaves!
So, if anyone fancies doing any work around the place - the decking by the back door is rotten and needs replacing. The back door itself could do with replacing, too. The kitchen could do with a lick of paint.. or if you've got a bit more time, completely gutting and rebuilding. I'll need the loft sorting - admittedly the builders are best doing that, it does need a complete staircase built. I also want an upstairs toilet adding - it's a very long way to the toilet when nature calls at 4am - the loo is in what used to be the coal-shed behind the kitchen (it is at least part of the house, it's not an old outside loo!)...
Any offers?
Aww, bum, lunchtime over already!!
I'll try not to leave it so long - I miss the old days of Yikes with the original crew!
TTFN!

BMT -
Sod decorating - I want a relax.
Yes, Bel, it's the best thing we've done for a long time. Stressful at the time, and there's much work to be done, but the area and the general atmosphere is much nicer here.
Have I missed anything exciting? I see we've got a bunch of new smileys. They finally have a Superhero , but too late - I'm sticking with , much more me!

I don't know about any exciting things - I usually stick to the Post and journals.
Good to see you, though.

I've missed being around. I'm supposed to be doing my NVQ - but your careful choice of thread title allows me to do just that! I'm currently sat in an air-conditioned office that has two PCs which we can use when doing our studies. I carefully chose the one with the screen that is not in view when someone walks in, and have a number of "relevant" windows open but minimised, ready to cover the Hootoo page as necessary.
The cyber cafe upstairs is pretty much out of action - the computers are hopelessly out of date, bug ridden, and usually only one of the four works at all, so gaining access is almost impossible.

I prefer "creativity" to "cheating"...
And lil - are we supposed to believe that?

She was sober when I left... I didn't detect any scouser accent, though.
