Come forth, my child, come into my world
So you've clicked on my name to visit me!
This can only mean that:
1 You're a girl. Nice to meet you. I'm nice to meet.
2 You're a boy in need of a translator from the `XX'-side of things
3 You're with Frank 'n Furter, in which case: be careful, those BBC-censors might think your lifestyle's too extreme
So who am I? Obviously a Buffy-fan, but also a fervent moviewatcher, singer, and lover of all nature's weird and wonderful things. (Addicted to National Geographic and BBC's great animal programmes.)
I catched an episode or two a few seasons back, but got into Buffy during summer reruns, and became a hardcore fan since the beginning of season 5. Reading about the crossovers with Angel (the series, not the character), I watched that once, and decided to accept nothing but the real thing, as this seemed but a lame imitation. However, accidentally zapping across it last year, I plunged right into the `kill your lawyers'-episode, and have been hooked ever since.
'The Body'prompted me to write my first review, and I've been posting them regularly from that time on. I'm really glad our opinions are no longer edited back to a few catchphrases, plus you can discuss them with others now. I'm always in favour of seeing things from a different perspective, and greatly value your input. So leave me a message!
FAVOURITES
Characters
Both Buffy and Angel are, of course, ensemble-pieces, as the chemistry between the characters is part of what makes them so attractive. But still, everyone is bound to have their personal favourites, and I'm no exception.
On Buffy I've always felt most akin to Willow. (That is, without being a 'sister of the dark ones', or a 'sister' period.) Her shy awkwardness, her passion for studying, countered by her honesty and level-headedness were all things I could relate to. (And that transition from oddly dressed to mama-yama: been there too.)
My favourite character, however, has long been Faith, the destructive slayer-gone-bad, played by the phenomenal Eliza Dushku. She made Faith more than just a wilde girl (or cleavagy slutbomb, as some would say); you could always sense she was carrying a dark, heavy past that made her choose the path she took.
Recently, as his part in the Buffyverse has expanded more and more, I think Spike is the most intriguing character of them all. From pure evil, to neutered, to passionately falling for his worst enemy, this is a guy you can never fully fathom. His compassion and selfless acts seem a far cry from the brutal killer we knew him to be, yet you're never completely sure about his motivations or next move.
On Angel I really love Lorne (The Host). His wit, his singing, and his game of pop-culture-referencing with Angel -as they have both been around longer than all the other characters- are hilarious.
Wesley, on the other hand, is the most interesting. Not only did he change from a stuffy, stuck-up watcher to the rugged, stalwart leader of Angel Investigations (backed-up by a radical change in appearance), he has experienced a lot of emotional turmoil recently, which seems far from over. (I've watched season three up to episode 18)
