smiley - ermI have very limited knowledge about Finland, but maybe one important year about Finland when it was Swedish is missing. I have read that since the year of 1362 representatives from Finland participated when Swedish kings were elected. As I understand the Finnish people had the same rights and duties as everyone else in Sweden.

Finland became a part of Sweden partly because of trade and was not conquered some claim. It was not a union and Finland was not a colony of Sweden since it was one country. I am somewhat impressed by Finns (have met a few crazy ones also) and think it is not surprising that they participated a lot to make Sweden an empire. Have seen on web pages that some Finns seem to really dislike their background as a part of Sweden. Maybe it is some identity problem.
