Just passing through. I keep seeing you on a few threads but I have never said a personal hello to you. So I am doing so now - hello! smiley - smiley

I like a lot of what you post and so this makes me think that you are quite a nice person.

I'm a nice person too, no matter what SOME might say! smiley - winkeye

Hi az

Hi to your hello smiley - biggrin I like a lot of your posts too smiley - winkeye

I'm sorry I didn't spot your hello earlier. I sometimes forget to check my home page.

I think that we have considerable common ground in our respective belief systems. I hammered out my own personal framework after coming to h2g2 and finding the FFFF.

I'm pleased to find someone who has reached similar conclusions independently.

To be honest, I find your postings to be a breath of fresh air. Well thought out and, well, just human.

I like FFFF a lot. Though I came to my personal god concept after having been brought up (so to speak) as RC. Ick. And after many years of not having any sort of god concept at all.

I call myself a pantheist for want of a better word. Really, I think all people's god concepts are just fine. I love mythology and reading about all the gods. Though I still maintain that man created god in his image and not the other way round. But that is just my opinion. And you are very welcome to disagree with me.

In the end, if we live a good life and love our fellow man, then who gives a monkeys about what god we call our own? At least, that's the way I see it.

Anyhoodle, very nice hearing from you.

Thanks, az

Its nice to be thought of as "just human" smiley - winkeye

I like FFFF too. It has been a wonderful educational experience for me. A place to share thoughts and discuss them without the unnecessary personal attacks that can take place in a face-to-face. It also gives you a chance to read and re-read what others have said.

I haven't been there much recently. Not because of the public disagreement I had with Albaus, but simply because of a lack of time. I have recently taken on a new role at work, Safety Advisor, which involves going back to school and learning about all sorts of wonderful European and UK legislation, and also because Justin has put in a reappearance and he takes up quite a lot of bandwidth!

I have tried to talk to Albaus to resolve how we came to disagree, because I don't actually feel that we do, I think that we have a lot of common ground. It just got very irritating and tireing, for us both. But, Albaus also has a lot of demands on her time which has rather slowed communication.

I feel that, as far as it matters, that your own personal views on your beliefs are a lot more important than anything that anyone else can tell you. Does that make sense? So, if you see god as being created in man's own image, then that is more important to you than me saying the complete opposite and claiming that you are wrong.

So I won't disagree with you smiley - smiley

If you are interested, part of my own experiences of christianity are at A1016344 and part of my philosophy on god is developed at F80629?thread=155651&skip=2764&show=20 (you probably read it at the time).

But, as you say, if we live a good life what does it matter where, why, who or how we choose to thank for it and whether it's just ourselves we thank or something other?

I remember Albaus - she disappeared ages ago! Or at least, I haven't seen her around anywhere.

To be honest, I have never disagreed with anybody else's god concept (except for Justin the Preacher's) because I think that is personal and, well, beyond proving.

Although I *have* had a few run ins with people on hootoo, they have either been 'somewhat personal' or else about issues that usually have to do with basic humand rights and tolerance. Cos if there's one thing I just can't tolerate it's intolerance! smiley - winkeye

hi again!

Just saw your posting to Member about you thinking he is Hoovooloo. Well, as I said there, it is really not all that important whether he is or not, or if he is that he doesn't own up to it. He still makes for good reading a lot of the time.

And how are you these days?

Hi, az

You're right, it's not that important whether M and H are the same person, except it has coloured the way in which I and many others have entered into debates with M. That they are not the same person I find entertaining smiley - winkeye, a bit like being in on a joke.

I'm pretty good at the moment, but my life is really hectic.

I am now a safety advisor (although I still have bits of engineering work too), which means going back to college and studying for new qualifications. Mostly short courses, but there is always course work and exams. (Next exam in June.)

As part of the new job, I have to travel more. Mostly in the UK, but even so I have to go from one end of the country to the other; Devon last week, Middlesborough this week, Edinburgh next week. Fortunately I live in the middle so it's not too bad.

And hardest of all, we are moving home. We've sold our old house and are staying with my wife's parents (!) until we can complete on the purchase of our new home. It's been hard going for the past month but the end is in sight. With a little luck I'll have a new home before Easter!

I saw the picture of you smiley - droolsmiley - winkeye and the ghost of Justin posting to your web pages. I shouldn't worry too much. I think Justin may have left h2g2 but will be back; he's done it before. He will just be roaming around cyberspace looking for people he knows. He might even think of some of us as pseudo-friends, after all he must be pretty lonely in RL smiley - winkeye.

Seriously, I think jez may be close to the truth in some respects. J is certainly repressing certain parts of his personality.

How about you? How are your cats?

One of ours seems to have wandered off for a couple of days. I'll have to go out and have a good look around for him tonight. It's not been too bad for them, moving that is. They are staying with another relative (my wife's parents have a dog), but we miss them and they appear to miss us.

Catch you later.

Mike

Holy moly - you sure have been busy! Oh, I hope you find your cat. I know they sometimes do go missing after a move. It must be hard being 'in limbo'. They say that moving is in the top-five most stressful things to go through. Whereabouts will your new home be?

Re: Justin (that creep!) I quite admire and appreciate Member stepping in and so SOLIDLY sticking it to Justin right where it could hurt most. And of course Justin has no yikesing priviledges on my photo site smiley - smiley . It does creep me out that this guy is obviously stalking me a bit. But typically he is picking on the female of the J-Team (hey, did you see the thread where I added you to the team? Howling Mad Madent? smiley - winkeye ) instead of a man. What a wimp.

As for the photo! I'm really embarrassed because I don't look like that anymore, if indeed I ever did (it was one of those rare 'good photos' taken on a good hair day). I am much *older and wider* now! And so it's a bit embarrassing to think people will be thinking of me as a younger and thinner version of me on a good hair day than what I actually look like. Most recent photo of me (on a bad hair day) was taken last November and is the first photo in the 'gatitos' album.

What Jez said about Justin is what Member believes to be true. I don't actually care except that it would help explain his homophobia.

Well, must get ready for work now. Catch you later, alligator . . .

We're moving to Coventry, my old home town, not that we ever lived very far away from it. But we are moving to be closer to family, work, schools, etc.

I wouldn't be too sure that J is stalking you. You had a link to your pictures from your space. I imagine that anyone in his position would have researched his opponents. You were just an easy target. Now that Math and others have put in an appearance, J will most likely leave you well alone.

Good idea on the call for help too. If there's a next time and I can help, I will.

I can't recall the J-team thread, can you remember where it is?

As for the photo ... don't do yourself down, girl! You don't look that much different and still pretty fine!

Have fun at work.

Hi az

Yes, everything is now fine. It has been a hectic month for my family. We finally moved in to our new home a few weeks ago and have just about settled down to some sort of normality.

I'll email you a picture for you album. It's cool seeing some faces to go with the names.

And thanks for asking.

Didn't mean to pester you (much smiley - winkeye ). Just saw you were online now and thought, um, that I'd pester you.

Glad to hear things are settling down for you. Moving is hell. But now that it's all over with you can get on with the really nice bit - setting everything up just the way you want it to be. smiley - smiley

Hope you have fun with it.

kisses,
az
