Hi ismarah smiley - smiley

Yes, I just found out... and was quite happy about it.

And I miss so much to visit Iceland - but at the moment I can't afford it...

I've been there for about 10 times during the last 10 years... smiley - smiley Most of the time I was riding Kjölur for two weeks in the summer, starting on a farm near Flúdir, where my beloved horse is living (I was crazy enough to buy a horse, but let it live in Iceland and not taking him over to Germany...). I also visited Iceland for two times in winter; the first time I had nice 3 weeks on a farm near Vík í Myrdal, the second time I enjoyed Christmas and New Years Eve in Reykjavík.

I also started to learn Icelandic in 1994, but - er erfitt tungumál, as you may know smiley - winkeye, and theres's not so many chances to practice it over here... smiley - sadface

Would be nice to stay in contact!

Oh, btw, I forgot: There was an article in "Dagur" in July 1998 about this crazy german woman, who is riding Kjölur again and again and again...

2nd thing I forgot: I still am happy that what I sent in for "World's best camping-sites" was edited - it was the entry about Árbúdir mountain hut in the south of Kjölur smiley - smiley

Yes, I know Icelandic er erfið... German is easier smiley - smiley
I love horses too, and quite envy you your horse here. Maybe I´ll ask to borrow it, since it probably needs the exercise and you´re in Germany smiley - winkeye
Keep in touch? why, yes, what a fabulous idea smiley - ok

Borrow my horse? Why not, I don't pay for his food, because it was part of my plan that Simmi - good guy - can take him for his tours as long as he is taking care for Lóu-Gráni.

Ahem, btw, don't laugh about his name... he's black, so the name doesn't fit too well, but they named him after his mother, which was a grey mare...

*lol* Nothing against naming horses after lóa... betta splendens are fish, siamese fish, very coulourful but veeeeery agressive....

Iceland

Post 14

ismarah - fuelled by M&Ms

I think I´d rather keep siamese cats. Not too aggressive, but just as colourful (for a cat)

am not feeling as sorry for myself as I was yesterday. I´ll tell you what did cheer me up monday night though - I took my partner, TheDancingTree, and went to the garden centre. There we bought a christmas and a bunch of lights and decoration...
We decided to be early this year (our first together, in fact) because we´re going to the UK on the 17th, where we will be until the 27th. Then to have new years' eve here, with fireworks and noise and stuff smiley - smiley

how´s the legal business? and the rats?

*laughs* Both alive and kicking... smiley - winkeye

Hey, I had two New Year's Eves in Iceland, it was f***ing brilliant! The biggest thing I saw burn of one of the... is it "brennur"? - was a fishing boat out of service... unbelievable!

*misses Iceland quite a lot*

Cheers, skugga

singular- brenna
plural- brennur

It´s good to know that New Years Eve is interesting to foreigners and adopted Icelanders, such as yourself... Maybe you can help me- what am I supposed to show them while they´re here?
('they' being friends of ours who are coming over with us, in case I forgot to mention that)
If you´ve ever heard of a thing called CISV (see entry about it here on hootoo, otherwise) I made some friends in Germany last year through that. Fantastic experience, and my friend Nina still makes me smile whenever I think of her.
This is all a roundabout way of asking where in Germany you´re based...
