I don't know what the psychiatric drug pharmacopia is in South Africa, but here is a synopsis of what the mental illness drug scene was like in the USA for the last 50 years or so. It is much worse now that the Big Pharma companies advertise on the Net and popular magazines prescription drugs like they were new grocery items with LONG lists of side effects that everyone chooses to ignore and bug their doctors to prescribe it. It's really dumb.

I haven't yet read that about the drugs but thanks for the Jane Goodall link! I admire her and her work. I also read that piece on art! Still I have no idea how to make money from my art over here ...

Well I guess each country has it's own way of marketing art. If I were you, I'd send query letters to organizations like the World Wildlife
Foundation and other more localized protection agencies--lots of times these orgs give merchandise and presents to donors at a certain level--if your designs could be put onto notecards, or calendars you might be able to get some royalties for example. But you should have an agent or lawyer to make sure you get properly paid for it. Naturally that would cause you to have expenses, but they would try to maximize your exposure to get more money themselves.
And now for something completely different--new study on how tightly constrictors hold on to trees they climb.

Also--they have discovered how certain lizards regenerate their tails--it might help humans with arthritis replace cartilege that degenerates as result of that disease:
