Hello Pal-ladin! Welcome to hootoo! You'll find us all a friendly lot-eager to chat with you. I hope you enjoy your time here, I sure do.

What kind of dog is Stella? And what kind of rescue do you do? We had a springer spaniel, Babe, for years till she had to be put down. What a great dog she was!

I haven't seen the words to Palladin for years! I was a fan-it was a good show. Does that date me?

My most recent passion is Tai Chi. I take a class a couple of times a week, and it is so amazing to do in a large group. Our association is 25 years old this year, but I've only been doing Tai Chi for 8 months or so.

Hello Barney's

Thanks for writing, were not a part of a rescue team, I think I misled you there. We goy Stella, a crossbred rottweiller/alsatian from a home for stray dogs. She was very nervous and frightened at first, you have to visit the kennels as much as you can on first meeting , so she gets used to you.She was 9 months old when she came to us, she's now nearly 4 years old. She's still nervous when we take her out until she is away from traffic and people.

I think the Palladin show was on tv between 58/62 over here, loved it and one of my hobbies being music the words stuck. I'm not familiar with Tai Chi but I'll look it up on the computer. We'll be visiting America later this year on holiday, looking forward to that.smiley - ok

I'll give you a link that will give you an idea of Tai Chi. It was brought to Canada by Master Moi Lin-shin in 1970. Although the movements are slow and rhythmical, its amazing exercise-internal and external. A set takes about 20 minutes, and believe me-its a workout! This is the one I belong to-

It sounds like your dog had a tough life before you got her. I had a tiny, beaten chihuahua years and years ago that never did get over being scared of loud noises. I'd shout *come in* when someone knocked at the door and Skitter would be under the couch. He got so he was alright in the house with me, and I tried to be really conscious of not scaring him. I'd have never had a chihuahua by choice, I don't think, but I couldn't allow this tiny little dog to go on being mistreated, so I rescued him and gave him a reasonably quiet home. I'm more of the working dog type, my favourites being springer spaniels, German shorthairs, labs and weimaramers. Great dogs, all of them, easy-going, smart, devoted.

Hello Barney's Bucksaws

Sounds like the Tai Chi exercise is working for you, keep it up. I dont do a lot of exercise of any kind apart from walking the dog, although housework is an ongoing thing. We are off to Spain on Sunday for a week of sun, sea and late nights with another two couples. We go every year to a place called Benidorm, It's busy and lots of night time entertainment.Stella goes into kennels, the same one every time. She does'nt seem to mind and the owners say she's never any trouble.I'll drop you a line when I get back.

Palladin.

Hello Pal-ladin-

It sounds like a fine holiday. Its cold again in Winnipeg (Winterpeg): -14C today with wind chill to -25C. I could use some sun and warmth-in fact, there's not much wrong with me that hot sunshine on my skin wouldn't cure!!

Have a great holiday-be safe-have a drink for me---and talk to you when you get back.

Hiya Barney,
I hope the weather there has picked up a bit,-14 I would'nt know what to do other than stay in bed with a hot water bottle. We had a good week in Spain, the weather was warm at the beginning of the week and got hotter as the week went on.We did'nt do a lot except eat drink and sleep in that order. We were full board so three meals a day is unusual for us to say the least, we all put a few pounds on apart from my wife. She came back from her slimming class and informed me she was the same weight she was before we leftsmiley - sadface how has she managed that?.It's a busy place at night is Benidorm, Never got back to hotel before 3 in the morning.Did you say earlier that you were moving in the near future?.I was on Google earth earlier today looking down on Manatoba which for some reason I thought was where you livedsmiley - erm.Must be all that booze I think. Are you familiar with Google Earth?,I find it fascinating. It's 2 in the morning here I think I'll sign off now, hope things are okay with you, will be in touch soonsmiley - ok.

I'm glad you had a good time. Yes, the weather has picked up here-it looks like its finally Spring. Its mostly above 0C during the day now, and we've abandoned our winter coats and boots. Its so nice to put on running shoes to go out instead of heavy boots. -14 is mile-winter time here can be -40C, including wind-chill. Staying in bed with a hot water bottle would be a fine idea!

We're still in Winnipeg, Manitoba for a few more years. We've just taken over caretaking our apartment building. Its a small 3 storey-only 11 suites. It isn't a lot of work, except we have 2 vacancies we're showing, several times a day! Up and down to the third floor a few times a day. I'll be glad when they're finally rented!

We have an old system, and can't get Google Earth. I have had a chance to look at on a friend's computer, and its great! Wish we could get it. I do like the Google maps, though. Its fun to go in and play at finding landmarks in places I know on the satellite maps.

Hello again,I'm pleased the weather has picked up it makes you feel better when you know that there's warmer weather on the way.My wife did similiar work i.e caretaking but it was differant in that she worked for an organisation which ran housing for the aged.We lived on the premises in the flat that came with the job. She took early redundancy 4 years ago.I start back at work tonight after 3 weeks, back into a routine. It's bright sunshine here at the moment and we leave the back door open so that Stella can go in and out as she pleases. She wanders in the back thru to the front lounge and looks out of the window, barks at anybody walking past then runs out thru the back door and barks at them again.
