our housing estate is on clay based, only about 1ft of topsoil in parts my friends house was nearly (sort of) flooded the other day, as the water couldn't filter down, so it collected on the surface and was nearing the doorstep top

a dull grey my front garden is on a slope and water collects at the step to passageway to the back-door, I have to stretch over as it can be about 2ins deep

and even if I had a good bank balance, it's still a council house and not my own, so I'll not spend on it because any improvement I do, isn't mineit belongs to the council

Sounds annoying.

We're annoyed here. First, I had to go to the dentist. I didn't like mine.

So today, Elektra had a toothache, and she went to the clinic where we get our other medical stuff.

And they gave her antibiotics, told her she needed a tooth pulled - but that THEY couldn't do it until next February!

She came home, and I was furious. That makes no sense. So we've got the number of my sister's dentist, maybe he has time to pull a tooth. He's only about 20 miles away.

THAT is disgusting!!!!
and as you have to pay for all your medical needs/stuff, makes it double

we complain about waiting lists etc with our national health service - but the blame is on successive governments on their handling of it

cuts to nurses/doc's/police and loads of other services - yet the fat cats still have they're noses in the trough - sickening!!!!!

I couldn't figure it out, either. But I've already been unhappy with one dentist in this area. It must just be a bad place for dentists.

The nearest I could figure was that this clinic - which is low-cost - only has a limited number of dentists on staff.

But we'll find one, never fear. It took us five calls to find a doctor's office that was taking new patients, too. This isn't close enough to a major medical centre, I guess, and nobody wants to work here.

I hope Elektra isn't suffering too muchand can get relief asap! from a good dentist

is there any local council official/senator etc that you could lodge a complaint with ? as in lack of dentists etc ?

I'm fuming!!! as apart from it being Elektra it could also have been a young kid suffering

You know, that's something to look into. I'll ask around, maybe take that up with the Representative, I hear she's nice.

A lot of the local doctors, etc, are retiring. I guess they're just a bit older than we are. And that makes for a gap, which might explain why everybody we knew here - an older crowd 'cos they're my sister's friends - recommended people who weren't taking on any new patients.

But trying to send you 50 miles away...it seems extreme to me.

with no disrespect to anyone, but America is suffering loss of jobs etc like here, so dentistry should be a good opening for college/uni grads etc ? looking for work - good pay of course and prospects

Yeah, I agree - you'd think there would be more of them. And I'm with you - the sooner we fix this, the better.

It doesn't help that Elektra's terrified of dentists. Me, I just get mad at them. I wish we were closer to Philadelphia, we'd go to the Indian dentist I had there. He was a lovely man and made me laugh.

I'd better go. Supper coming soon, and I've come down with a 'visual migraine' and can't see the screen, so I'm typing blind.
