I slept pretty good. But then, I was out walking around the countryside, out at the farm.
My brother-in-law's got some pretty chickens. And lots of eggs. We even fed the cracked ones to their cats.

Yes, at least, those cats like raw eggs. They're unbelievable, those cats. Really small things. And loveable.
We got out and walked in town a bit today, once I got the work done. Unfortunately, when we came out of the library it started to sprinkle rain, so we came on home so as not to get the books wet. I want to go look inside that city hall another day.

A shame. It was sunny this morning - but of course, by the time I'd finished writing, it clouded up.
Then there was an actual traffic jam on Main Street - I swear we counted TEN CARS.
Now, yesterday, we were out at my sister's for about six-seven hours. Not one car went by...

10 cars ? now come on! your not overdoing the medication are you don't start humming the twi-light zone
I'd love to have my new neighbour at least 400 yrds awayand no road as such - peace/quiet and solitude and if machine gun towers needed, then so be it

Well, WE'RE in town. So our neighbours aren't far. But that means sidewalks, and a Wendy's with gluten-free chili, and a public library, and other amenities, so I'm happy.
But yeah, they're happy out there. And we can visit. And on a clear night, you can see all the stars...

your LAST sentence
with the town lights etc and always cloud cover (industrial north), "we" never have a good clear sky for any viewing
and that's one of the things I'd love to see - a full sky at night

Yeah, that's one of the things I loved most about my grandparents' farm as a kid - watching stars at night, no light pollution out there.
It pays to be descended from pioneers aka hillbillies.

me and a mate cry every year at missing the light showswe even bought very good binoc's, but weather conditions and cloud cover annually spoil any late night viewing sitting out and freezing, hoping to see something just doesn't work

Yeah, it's rough.
Now, what I loved about Athens was that there weren't many tall buildings. And the roofs were FLAT. So I could sleep on the roof all summer, and watch stars at night. Not as good as being in the middle of nowhere, but still pretty cool.

Lazy.
You can't be a hot tub out in the Appalachian woods, though - although the trees get in the way of stargazing.
I'd better go. Elektra's setting off the smoke detectors again.
She's a hazard to shipping. See you tomorrow!
