I've read the first bit, but not the song reviews yet, and enjoyed it indeed - especially about the *huge* differences between the 1977 and 2016 albums! smiley - laugh

One thing I wasn't clear about:

"Using newly-rediscovered 3-track tapes from Capitol's archives, after the process was completed, Giles Martin realised that the strongest songs were all-but identical to the ones originally chosen by his father."

What were the newly-rediscovered tapes? The ones that were deleted after George Martin had finished with the 1977 album?

Thanks for the comments – I've tweaked the entry. smiley - smiley

I cannot emphasise strongly enough how completely different the two albums are. Even though they both contain the same songs that were recorded at the same place at the same time and in the same order, they are widely, widely different albums. The cover of the new one is blue.

By 'delete' I was using the meaning of 'delete' that means 'being removed from the record company's back catalogue so that the item is out of print and no longer available to purchase', rather than the original recordings being actually physically deleted. All the publicity states that the 3-track tapes of the original performance are 'newly rediscovered', but as to what that actually means and what the tapes have been doing since the mid-1960s until now I can't say, I'm afraid.

Ah, I see I was half way through reading this and then got distracted, but I've finished reading now. Very good indeed - nice to see mention of Oldies smiley - ok

A few more points I spotted:

The newly rediscovered tapes were discovered before the remastering process was completed, I presume, but I'm not sure the sentence makes that clear.

In The Album section, 'as well as' what?

One of the quotes contains 'being doing' so a tweak is needed there, I think.

I recognise many of the song descriptions now, so that's OK. I did wonder if you had tweaked the bit about 'continued to perform' in a different Entry, so you might want to check that. Also, I noticed there was no previous mention of Carl Perkins, so that sentence might need tweaking too.

smiley - ok

Changes made – hopefully the newly rediscovered tapes section etc is much clearer.
I've also fixed the 'as well as' (the bit about the Los Angeles newspaper clipping had been the same sentence, but I chopped the very long sentence into two or three but without removing the 'as well as', which I've changed now.)
