Love the title analysis smiley - ok I tried to make a Doctor Who episode title out of the top 10 words, too smiley - rofl The Numbers section is great! smiley - laugh Work out the square root of evil on a calculator!! smiley - evilgrinsmiley - laugh

Was "They Keep Killing Steed" what the Torchwood episode title "They Keep Killing Suzie" based on? Fascinating...

I did wonder if you had gone into too much detail about the programme itself, given that there is an Entry on the subject, but I think you have done well to pick out details that were generally not included in the earlier Entry.

Gnomon - time to move on

I don't like this sort of title analysis, but obviously some people do, so I will refrain from further comment.

At the start you say "Here we will take a look at the complete list of the episodes from the television series The Avengers and seeing what recurring themes occur in the episode titles." I took this to mean that you would not list the episodes from The New Avengers. But then you did.

---------------------------------------------------------------------Word Choice, Typos, Grammar and Punctuation:
---------------------------------------------------------------------

and seeing --> and see

"The Avengers was made by British television company ABC (Associated British Corporation), with 137½ of the 161 original episodes still in existence, and all 26 episodes of The New Avengers."

-- you've joined up two unconnected facts with the preposition "with", one from the start of the series and the other from the present day. Split this into two sentences:

The Avengers was made by British television company ABC (Associated British Corporation). 137½ of the 161 original episodes are still in existence, as are all 26 episodes of The New Avengers.

"Doctor David Keel's fiancée is murdered, yet a strange man named John Steed (Patrick Macnee) helps him solve her murder"

-- "yet" is not the correct preposition here. Yet implies that the second statement conflicts in some way with the first. Try "and" or split it into two sentences.

"The series continues with Ian Hendry as the star, although it soon became clear" -- you're mixing present and past tense here

it was the revolutionary, tough character of Doctor Cathy Gale helped make -->
it was the revolutionary, tough character of Doctor Cathy Gale that helped make

she was also more feminine; flirty, not grumpy -- change the semicolon to a colon. Semicolons are used when the two things being joined can each stand as an independent sentence.

the principle market --> the principal market

straight forward enough --> straightforward enough

Occurences --> Occurrences

"Other legendary or mythical animals including 'The Golden Fleece', " - the fleece wasn't an animal but part of an animal. Also change including to include. I suggest you reword this as:

Other references to legendary or mythical animals include 'The Golden Fleece',

does the job descriptions listed in the episode titles bear that out -->
do the job descriptions listed in the episode titles bear that out

Are you sure it was "The Secret's Broker" and not "The Secrets Broker" as one would expect?

doubtlessly waiting to wolf-whistle Cathy, Emma and Tara, no doubt. -- there are two doubts in this. Get rid of one of them.

flying-rodent themed fancy dress -- bats aren't rodents. Perhaps use "flying-mammal-themed".

It is, of course, true -- not wrong, but you could improve it by removing both commas

to no longer exist -- missing a full stop at the end of this footnote.

Aristophones --> Aristophanes

In that case, I'd like to say thank you for such a thorough read through, despite your dislike of the entry style.smiley - ta

I made all the suggested changes and it was all straightforward, no points were raised that I felt needed further clarification or discussion.

I've read this again and have a few comments:

"in 1961, the main character was Ian Hendry who played Doctor David Keel."

The main *actor* was Ian Hendry?

"The Avengers had been created by Sidney Newman4 as a vehicle for Ian Hendry, who had played a similar character in Newman's earlier television series Police Surgeon (1960), along with Carol Wilson, played by Ingrid Hafner, who had also been a nurse in the earlier show."

I'm not sure what this sentence is saying. Is Carol Wilson a character in Police Surgeon?

"Plans had already been in motion to introduce an occasional female co-star, Julie Stevens playing nightclub singer Venus Smith, who was only destined to appear in six episodes of the second series and not returning for the third series due to pregnancy."

Does this mean that they had planned to introduce Venus Smith, or was it that they planned to introduce a female co-star and found Julie Stevens?

"rigors of judo" - rigours?

Lunchtime was an illusion smiley - sadface so I'm up to the Episodes section smiley - ok

You don't say that Cathy Gale was played by Honor Blackman.

Emma Peel is Mrs Peel, not Doctor?

Tara King is Miss @King not Doctor?

" Diana Rigg5 thus became one of the key female characters of all time" - key female *actor*?

In the Series 6 section, it isn't clear that Clemens and Fennell were reinstated after Bryce was found to be no longer up to the job.

I like how you make a night of it in the title analysis

I also like how you mentioned Killerwhale is the title, as I did wonder about whether it should be Killer Whale.

I'm glad you've found bits to enjoy amongst the entry. smiley - smiley

'You don't say that Cathy Gale was played by Honor Blackman.'
I did, although admittedly this was first mentioned in Footnote 1, so I've mentioned it in the text too.

'Emma Peel is Mrs Peel, not Doctor?'
Emma Peel is both a widow and a Doctor of Science (biology, but I've also always admired her chemistry). You are right, though, that she is commonly called 'Mrs Peel' rather than 'Dr Peel' so I've changed that.

I've correct Dr King to Dr Keel smiley - doctor as Tara wasn't a Doctor.
